It can also be used to gather reactions to ideas or prototypes and competitive software. A focus group for technology user needs analysis is a discussion led by a moderator who follows a plan that has questions, prompts, tasks and exercises for the group. It has the specific intetnion to find out what people do, why they do it and how they think they would do it a given software. 8 people are recruited per focus group and a typical focus group lasts for 2 hours.
