We'd like to share some of our latest news from the team at Objective Digital.
JON DUHIG JOINS THE TEAM
We have a new, and very experienced User Experience Consultant joining our team.

Jon Duhig has a history of user-centred design for blue chip companies - he has worked for British Telecom (BTexact), Honeywell (Software Centre) and Canon (CISRA) where he was the User Experience lead. Previous colleagues describe Jon's talents for insight and creativity, his clean, elegant solutions, his value in providing fresh perspectives on problems and his very broad skill-set. Jon also has a number of patents to his name which shows he has some innovative ideas.
He holds a First Class honours degree in Ergonomics from Loughborough University. If you haven't heard of Loughborough before it's the home of the Ergonomics Society.
Our CEO James has worked with Jon before so when Objective Digital was looking for a new consultant he already knew the quality that Jon could bring to the team. We're very excited to have him join us - welcome, Jon!

CASE STUDY - USABILITY TESTING WITH EYE TRACKING INCREASED THE CONVERSION RATE ON KLM's ONLINE BOOKING TOOL BY 30%
Eye tracking has become a key method to test the usability of websites and software. It provides researchers and practitioners with indisputable, objective and convincing data describing user behavior and usability problems.
Click here to read a case study from our partners at Tobii Technology, showing how usability testing with eye tracking created a 30% uplift on the conversion rate within the KLM airline's electronic booking tool.
Gaze plots of early designs of the Select flights page showed a lot of fast eye movements between the flight price and its schedule (figure below). These specifics were positioned at exact opposite sides of the flight details. Participants were obviously trying to make a trade off between price and schedule, but the layout of the flight details was not conducive.
Following these findings the order in which flight details are presented was changed.
The redesigned electronic booking tool dramatically increased the conversion rate: 30% more users moved on from searching to actually booking flights in the new version.
